THOUGHT versus "ACTION!"

30 May 2008

There are two types of people, well, maybe three.

Broadly speaking there are the 'thinkers' versus the 'doers;' then there are the 'leaders' versus the 'followers,' 'young' versus 'old,’ yada yada, you get where I'm going with this, right?

The third type are those who don't fit pre-assigned molds. Because, it seems a good idea to leave room for those people or things that don't quite fit our comfortable labels...

Then of course, also, there is CHANGE. We all hear how difficult it is to change anything, whether mindsets or habits, but the truth is change is a basic tenant of life itself, and in my estimation, change is the reason life is so interesting, and at times also so frustrating.

Since the beginning of this year we've been intending to add a section that's all about helping students to find SCHOLARSHIPS - because getting a solid EDUCATION is still the best way to change your destiny. We also intended to highlight some of the AWARDS around the world designed to encourage and also to support and to reward...

Finally today, THOUGHT has become ACTION, and all because of an article I read in Newsweek magazine about KING ABUDULLAH of SAUDI ARABIA, who is creating a Center for Higher Education in his kingdom to be named KAUST.
Read more about KAUST here: http://www.icubed.us/node/1042

And in preparing that blog update, it made sense to open up our iCUBED.us SCHOLARSHIP RESOURCE area which those more observant readers of iCUBED.us would already have found sitting discreetly at the bottom of our iCUBED.us HOMEPAGE, in the right-side navigation panel (BOY! that was a mouthful).
Check it out here: http://www.icubed.us/node/766

So, for those of you who are looking for scholarships, we hope you'll find those resources helpful. And if you come across any thing that you feel belong in that area, please do e-mail us ... EDITOR[at]iCUBED.us

Sometimes it's good to think things out before jumping to take action, but just thinking about things usually doesn't get you too far...

Here's an interesting read for the doers out there: http://www.military.com/opinion/0,15202,117650,00.html

And, for those of you who are thinkers, we wish you luck finding the perfect balance of thought and action, but most of all, we hope you learn to know yourself and what makes you tick because THAT is what it really means to grow up, which is our MONTHLY THEME for June.

For any reader out there who has something to say about GRADUATION or GROWING UP, if you have stories about COMING OF AGE, please please please send us your stories or essays and if we publish them, you will be compensated for TAKING ACTION!

We hope to hear from you!
