There are those of us that blog about our favorite things: music and musicians; movies; books; sports and party scenes; some even talk about. Others keep a diary-like blog of their thoughts, feelings and what goes on during the day.
But there are too few of us that blog about an issue that we may hear about, watch about on television, or read about in magazines and newspapers: the issue of poverty.
And yet, there are many issues connected with poverty that we don’t recognize as such: hunger and malnutrition; Diseases that many of us don’t even realize exist anymore, including malaria and tuberculosis; environmental damage.
On October 15, we at iCUBED.us would like to call on everyone with the time, the interest, the passion and the compassion to take part in Blog Action Day. Organizers hope the discussion puts the blogosphere’s focus on a problem that is present in all four corners of the world, and in all countries—from the United States to China and India to South Africa.
This isn’t the first time Blog Action Day has tried to unite the voices that form the blogosphere to discuss what for all of us is a potentially life-changing issue. In 2007, it proposed “environment” as a theme—and organizers say as a result, bloggers focused their discussion on running environmental experiments, coming up with ideas on creating sustainable practices, and focusing on companies that have a green agenda.
Let us join the voices in calling for and proposing change that could bring about an end to poverty and the many issues it raises. Blog Action Day: October 15, 2008.
