Today on CNN was a shocking video clip of a group of teenage girls in Florida beating up on each other in a school parking lot!
We all know it happens, friends with kids tell me about their kids getting bullied in school, but when you see the way these girls were fighting - s l u g g i n g, p u n c h i n g, k n o c k i n g - d o w n and ! k i c k i n g ! one another - you can’t help but gape at the screen and wonder … WHAT IN THE WORLD IS GOING ON~!!!
Timely enough, a pair of youngish filmmakers have decided to shine a bright light on the issue of BULLYING by making a video and a myspace area for the convergence of information on this phenomenon. Check out this video being released across America, called TEEN TRUTH.
Personally, I think it has to do with the absurd amount of violent imagery that Americans are exposed to at early ages, images and stories that are targeted at teen audiences - in their video games, in TV shows, etc…
The girlfight on CNN looked remarkably like the sort of staged fight scenes we see in cop shows and in the movies. Maybe even on programs like World Wrestling Federation touraments! The girls were showing as much skin as the televised wrestlers in their sparse outfits . . . and these parking lot fighting girls are only 12 year olds!
