PORTIA ON PETS : Wheelchair update

by PortiaC, 4 December 2008

It's been more than a month since Leo has gotten his wheelchair. Perhaps due to his old age, it is not easy for him to adjust to using it. Fortunately, his front legs are still strong and he's now able to walk for a longer time.

We usually bring him down to the car park instead of outside as it's very hilly where we live. In the beginning, we had to use snacks to tempt him to walk, but having used the wheelchair for more than a month, Leo is now able to walk two big rounds around the car park. On some days, he's able to walk quite fast but other days he tires very quickly. The only problem is he can't balance on his own so we need to hold on to the wheelchair so that he doesn't topple over.

All in all, he seems happier and we're glad that he can enjoy longer walks with us.
