Want to do more for the planet and the environment?
April 22nd is Earth day! When the ever growing needs of our planet are voiced out globally!
Earth day seeks to increase awareness of the environment and the organizer’s mission is to broaden and diversify the environmental movement worldwide, and to mobilize it as the most effective vehicle for promoting a healthy, sustainable environment. More facts on Earth day include:
* The Earth Day Network was founded on the premise that all people, regardless of race, gender, income, or geography, have a moral right to a healthy, sustainable environment.
* The Earth day mission is to broaden and diversify the environmental movement worldwide, and to mobilize it as the most effective vehicle for promoting a healthy, sustainable environment.
* Organizers pursue their mission through a combination of education, public policy, and consumer activism campaigns. Campaigns and programs are predicated on the belief that an educated, energized population will take action to secure a healthy future for itself and its children.
* Earth Day Network has a global reach with a network of more than 17,000 partners and organizations in 174 countries. More than 1 billion people participate in Earth Day activities, making it the largest secular civic event in the world.
Earth day also seeks to achieve the following:
* Promote Civic Engagements and opportunities for all to become active at the local, state, national and global levels.
* Broaden the Meaning of "Environment" — The Earth Day network is committed to expanding the definition of "environment" to include all issues that affect health, communities and the environment, such as air and water pollution, deteriorating schools, public transportation and access to jobs, rising rates of asthma and cancer, and lack of funding for parks and recreation.
* Implement Groundbreaking Environmental Education Programs to provide young people with the skills, pride and passion they need to address environmental health issues affecting their communities.
* Help Bring Clean Water and Sanitation to the World.

HAPPY EARTH DAY everyone!
I'm going to be attending a meeting all day, so my computer will be off for at least 6 hours ... I"ll be sure to pull the plug out so there won't be wasted energy, and I'll also pull plugs on other appliances like my stereo and printer, when I'm not using them...
YOUSENDIT the big files email service, sent around an email today giving some pretty good summaries of how much energy it takes to make paper, and how much we save with little steps like pulling plugs on electronic things that aren't being used...
TAKE THE yousendit QUIZ:

As Benjamin Franklin said, "A PENNY SAVED IS A PENNY EARNED" it's the same for energy...
Happy Earth Day everyone! Tell us your actions, or ideas for saving the planet...
