Luckily, the answer for most parts is no! Some of the world’s most popular athletes are down to earth average Joes who do not let success get to their heads. In recent times, there have been some fine role models who exemplify all that is good about sports through their hard-work, discipline, determination and sportsmanship. Here are some of the best and most heart warming from all around the world!
Vince Papale – The Miracle Man
It was a true miracle. It would not happen these days. In the summer of 1976, the Philadelphia Eagles held open try outs as a gimmick. A 30 year old supply teacher and bar tender whose wife just left him, Papale was down on his luck. With nothing to lose, he went to the try outs. Against all odds, he made the team and went on to play three seasons for the Eagles. His life story was recently made into a film with Mark Wahlberg called ‘Invincible’.
