GRADUATION and INSPIRATION ... by Chris Lau

"You have now graduated, now what!"

Around the world, young people like you, are graduating from high school, college or university. With the state of the world in flux, both in economic and political terms, there is great uncertainty about what the future holds. But not to worry, because where there is adversity there is often also, opportunity – if you’re willing to keep an open mind and to work for what you get. Graduation is a big step in this wonderful adventure we call – “Life”.

As recent graduates, you are meant to explore the countless opportunities before you, but more importantly, to discover your talents, and to find ways to apply yourself and contribute to the world around you. Whether you are academically inclined or not, there is a special place out in the world for you, that not only NEEDS YOU, but that rewards you with a sense of pride-in-accomplishment.

Make the most of your youth! Learn about the world around you, and through those experiences – Observe, Understand, & Absorb.

* Do internships, volunteer for the learning experience
* Find and follow your passions
* Broaden your horizons
* Learn from mistakes, and, don’t follow the crowd unquestioningly!

Life is one long learning experience so STAY VITAL and prepare to be learning throughout your life! YOU are a unique individual with your own likes and dislikes, talents and weaknesses! Make the most of the time you have in life, know yourself, but also, education is a wonderful thing, so make the most of it! But remember that education is not limited to just books and tests; the world is one big interesting place with many opportunities for discovery and for learning about how things work, and about people dynamics. There is much to learn from traveling and speaking to people from all different backgrounds, especially those who are different from you.

At this moment in time, you might think you know everything, but you will be surprised by how much you still have to learn about life, people and of course, yourself!

Beyond this, in June, we are looking forward to publishing a series of uplifting but off-the-beaten-path graduation speeches.

We hope these speeches will inspire you to always do YOUR PERSONAL BEST, and will encourage you to USE YOUR HEAD, BUT FOLLOW YOUR HEART, and always to treat others with dignity and respect.
