Paul Potts – Overcoming bullying to be a global singing sensation!

By Nomadic Chris, 8 June 2009

“I'd think, "Why me? Why does everybody pick on me? What have I done?"

In fact, I asked them once and they just laughed at me and said, "It's because you're you."

That confirmed my fears. It was because of who I was.”
– Paul Potts

Is it possible to overcome bullying to become a world wide success?

The answer is "YES!"

The tenor Paul Potts is a global name. With his majestic voice, he tours the world to sold out crowds. Paul received his big break on ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ where he left judges and audiences speechless with his genuine and soulful performances.

His current life is a far cry from his school days where he encountered bullying on a daily basis. He was made fun of due to his weight and his slightly awkward appearance. This left him devoid of any self esteem. But today, he can thank the bullies for one thing - they drove him to seek refuge in singing! He's even had the courage to forgive the bullies of his youth (whom it can be said, have likely made nothing of themselves).

Other celebrities who've endured bullying and become successful, include:

* "Posh" Spice pop-star - Victoria Beckham
* Swimmer Michael Phelps
* Supermodel and TV presenter Tyra Banks
* TV star Miley Cyrus

Paul once called his voice “his best friend” and his best friend has taken him around the world.

People like Paul and rising talent, 47-years old Susan Boyle, are popular because they are ordinary people doing extra-ordinary things. Their meteoric rise have given hope to millions around the world that dreams can come true.

Paul not only has proven that it is possible to overcome childhood bullying and the resulting low self-esteem, and go on to become successful, he is living proof that with a little talent, a lot of hard work, and placing your best foot forward, anyone can - regardless of good-looks OR the "right" background - rise to the top!

Paul Potts didn't find success until his late thirties, before winning Britain's Got Talent, he was a mobile phone salesman with a passion for singing opera. If he hadn't won, he'd still be selling phones and enjoying his hobby - WHAT HAVE YOU GOT TO LOSE? Get out there!

DREAM BIG!
