There are a few professions that are -or should be- considered "noble" because those who enter their ranks do so NOT because of thoughts of personal gain but rather because they believe in the good they are doing; professions like journalism or policemen and firemen where one stands to risk life and limb to protect the life and freedom of others.
One hopes that those who are drawn to these professions are rewarded with respect and high regard for the role they play in keeping us safe, and that they are made aware of our gratitude to them when they perform their duties to the high standards that each profession upholds for it's own members.
This blog is meant to introduce a website that explains the many aspects of the noble profession of journalism, check it out for yourself, and come back and tell us what you think.

Here are a few questions to guide your thinking ...
Where is the balance between Freedom of Information and something like Privacy? How do we stay aware yet not intrude on the right to privacy of individuals?
Do YOU believe that the public has a right (or a need) to know every detail of a famous person's life? Are celebrities fair game for slander and gossip?
What does it say about us, to be more enthralled by the foibles of the rich and famous, than in making our own lives better?
IF the role of this noble profession of JOURNALISM is to be the "Guardians of Truth", as a check-and-balance to the Powers-that-be, then don't we as the news-consuming-public need hold journalists accountable to the highest standards of their profession?
And come back to check this out - "THE POWER OF INFORMATION ... COOL WEBSITE FOR FINDING OUT WHAT's HAPPENING ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD"

Hong Kong journalists beaten in Urumqi, protests ensue
Yesterday's protest march in Hong Kong was meant to send a signal that it is unacceptable to use force to prevent journalist from doing their jobs - which it is! so we commend those that took the time to march yesterday, in black outfits though in the heat of our tropical climate... (what is the significance of black?)
It's a closed circle, a connundrum without an answer:
How can we have democracy when people are not allowed to understand what is happening in and around the world? And how can we allow people to make decisions based on what they know, when what they know is so incomplete?
