The Autumn Tides are upon us once again!

30 September 2009

There's been so many 'natural disasters' these days it takes such a toil on our sense of compassion, there's so much need out there, and this barrage of destruction makes us all the more grateful for the peace that remains in the world, but also it must make us wonder how we might make a difference to lessen the suffering in the world by our own acts and actions.

Is it enough, for example, to donate to relief?
Is it helpful for us to learn more about root causes of these calamities?
Is there a way to reverse things like 'climate change'?

Do we look to the world leaders to solve these problems?
How do we support their work, or how do we - as individuals, as citizens of our homelands - contribute our efforts and voices to REAL progress, and solutions?

The time for soundbites and posing is good and over. If we don't overcome our egos and get to work on solving the many crises that we face, with compassion at the center, we will not see a solution in time to prevent human kind from extinction. There are blogs out there saying things like 'humans deserve to become extinct' for all the damage we have done to the ecosystem and the environment!

The "leaders of people" - whether nation, sect, or any other grouping - out there must each answer this question:

"Is this YOUR 'intention'?
Is this to be your epithet? that your actions or inactions are responsible for the destruction of the only planet we can call 'home'?"
