Today world leaders meeting at ASEAN announced to the I-told-you-so chorus of Greenies around the world that there would NOT be "a full international legally binding agreement" to be expected as a result of the earth summit in Copenhagen beginning the first week of December. Instead, they are opting for a two-step approach, with a first step in December of coming to a "politically binding" agreement between all member nations, with the intention to later amend with hard numbers and legal obligations to reduce climate change.
Be that as it may. Whether you side with the frustrated Greenies, or with the political-economic "foot-draggers", what's most worrying is that there are people/forces that continue to deny that global warming is a real issue, and NOT something "jobless sandal-wearing tree-huggers" made up.
What's worrying is that there are people who truly DO NOT believe that forests and trees are a very crucial part of our planet's delicate ECOSYSTEM nor that BIO-DIVERSITY is worth preserving for the survival of human-kind, and RISING SEA LEVELS are a real and imminent threat.
iCUBED.us is strongly opposed to sitting back and waiting for "others" to take care of business, especially whilest complaining about how ineffective "they" are - YES, in our estimation, armchair critics are an equally harmful force because they put negativity and pessimism into the mix, and often cause those working on issues to become locked in defensive mode, more interested to prove themselves right and their opponents wrong, than on finding a lasting solution. As such, we've decided to publish a regular slate of blogs and articles under the WARMING-GLOBE WATCH: banner as a way of "doing our part" to call attention to all manner of PROOF that this GLOBAL WARMING/CLIMATE CHANGE ISSUE is a fact and not politically motivated psychedelic mass-hysteria, and we take this opportunity to frown upon those who attempt to make it into a matter of partisan politicking, because by doing so they show themselves as being more interested in winning an argument than in solving this critical issue facing humanity as a whole.
