The rising Hollywood actress tragically passed away at the age of 32 from a suspected heart attack.
To many, Brittany Murphy encapsulated many roles; she was the tough girlfriend in ‘Eight Mile’, she was a troubled patient in ‘Girl Interrupted’, she had a role in the comic book adaptation ‘Sin City’, she did voiceovers for “Happy Feet”, “King of the Hill” and she had just finished shooting the anticipated action film ‘The Expendables’. Her career was steady if unspectacular but she was definitely on the way up. Sadly, it has been cut short and her potential will never be fulfilled.
For a generation who came of age in the nineties, she will always be remembered for her breakout role in the ‘Emma’ adaptation film “Clueless”. Her character ‘Tai’ was a ‘project’ for Alicia Silverstone’s character, Cher, to bring under her wing, transform and to bring out of her shell. Murphy brilliantly captured all the giddy awkwardness of youth which ALL teens go through as she sets her heart on fulfilling her potential…oh and snagging a boyfriend in the process!
Clueless was a nineties smash hit and remains deep in the psyche of popular culture as all teens could relate to the characters in this film in one way or another. Clueless was Murphy’s first major role and in a way, this was her coming of age and the film’s success would have given her the confidence to take on greater roles (which she did). Though rumors of Murphy struggling with her body image have constantly persisted and maybe like her ‘Tai’ character, Murphy wanted to leave her old self behind and truly fulfill her career as a true Hollywood star.
Brittany Murphy died aged just 32. Still so young with limitless opportunities in front of her; she does leave some lasting memories in her films and as Tai in Clueless, she will be forever young…….

Thanks for your feedback. Her death was indeed sad but at least she lives on through her work.
