AbydosO-20 on "Gaming Etiquette"

‘iCheat’, iScam, iKS, iBuyVirtualStuffForRLMoney’

Gaming has always been fun, whether you play it alone or play it with other people. But sometimes, there are those who just play the game to suck the fun out of it. Here are some of the classifications of them.

  • Scammers: These are those who try to get goods/services by fooling people.

  • Pretenders: These guys pretend to be somebody. From Game Masters to your friends and sometimes even relatives! They ask for virtual money or items.

  • Drop-Timers: They open a trade window and just about the time you are going to move the item to be traded, they close the trade window resulting to you dropping the item on the ground and s/he picking it up.

  • Fake Services: Ask for buffs, warp portals and you pay them but after you do, they disappear or warp you to some other place.

  • Hackers: These are those who try to get your information so that they can loot your account.

  • Pure Breed: These are hardcore hackers that use different applications to get your user name and password to empty your account such as key logger.

  • Pretenders: Like scammers, some hackers pretend to be friends/family/GM to get your information.

  • Spammers: These are those who flood the chatbox with almost anything. From ‘jesfnkasjebfkbeakgf’ to ‘$%@$^%$@’, they type it all.

  • Kill stealers: Ever experienced getting the boss to last 1 hit point then someone else kills them? They are those ‘them’. Many people have learned to love to hate them.

  • Bug exploiters: These are people who take advantage of bugs they find such as item duplication, money cheats and experience point duplication.

  • Real Money Black-market: Some just can’t wait to get their first million and result to real money black-market.

  • Account buying/selling: Got sick of the game? Or want to play a game but too lazy to hunt for items? Here’s the solution! Buying or selling accounts for real money is often (or always) forbidden but hey, one man’s trash is another man’s treasure.

  • Item buying/selling: You got that rare item in-game and in need of cash? Meet up with these illegal buyers/sellers for rare items. This one, I’m sure, is never allowed for any games.

  • Currency buying: That million is just tad too impossible to attain! Some people pay other people for virtual stuff.

  • Legal buying or ‘Donors’: Free games sometimes give some incentives to people who ‘donate’ for the development of the game. This is legal since the game is, after all, free and they are only asking for donations but I still hate this. It makes the gap between non-donors and donors big.

As a gamer, I’ve experienced being scammed, hacked, kill stealed, exploited and black market and all I can say is, these people should get a life and realize that games are for people’s enjoyment not for profiteering (well, if they are not the developers then they do not have the right to do so right?)

Lesson: Enjoy gaming and do not get stressed by it! =D
