LOW CARBON LIVING: Second Life Avatars (Virtual People) leave a BIGGER Carbon-footprint than the Average real-life Brazilian!

by LoLa, 11 November 2010

On the heels of a memorable and impressive collection of CLIMATE CHANGE action-istas, speakers, and world-famous dignitaries featured at the C-40 International Climate Conference (organized by Hong Kong's premiere think-tank Civic Exchange), we--at iCUBED.us present this thought-provoking bit of headline from December 2006--Avatars consume as much electricity as Brazilians!-- as a gentle reminder to all of us living lives of comfort and convenience in the modern world, that often we are consuming energy with neither intention nor awareness AND that there are small acts and actions we can each take that would immediately reduce our collective negative impact on the environment...

These include SWITCHING OFF things like AIR CONDITIONERS, COMPUTERS, TELEVISIONS, LIGHTS-SIGNBOARDS, WATER HEATERS, MOBILE PHONE CHARGERS, a n y t h i n g electric, etc...

Check out how they made the comparative carbon calculations in the links included below--DO YOU AGREE WITH THE LOGIC OF THE CALCULATIONS?--and, follow the folks who comment on the calculations... it's a free lesson in analytical thinking ~ !
