The Power of Boredom
TIRED OF ALWAYS zipping around, lessons, music, friends pinging you with links to funny YouTube videos and replying to 5 text windows PLUS your mobile?
Well then, sign yourself up for The Second Annual BORING CONFERENCE in 2011, and learn to revel in All Things Dull and Dreary.
INSPIRED by the failure of THE INTERESTING CONFERENCE to launch due to, uhmm, lack of interest, 29-year old James Ward--co-founder of London-based "The Stationary Club" whose 45 members - according to the Wall Street Journal - "meet occasionally to discuss pens, paper clips and Post-it Notes" decided to check interest levels for a Boring Conference in its place.
Mr. Ward, editor of the "I Like Boring Things" blog, pooled his resources, and put together the first ever Boredom Conference on 11 December 2010 for 200 paying members of the British conference-going public, with presentations on subjects including:
"The Intangible Beauty of Car Park Roofs" and
"Personal Reflections on the English Breakfast" and
"My Relationship With Bus Routes"
With the resounding success of the inaugural Boring Conference 2010, iCUBED.us is joining the BORING BANDWAGON, and is keen to encourage students of every age and ilk, to recognize the Power of cultivating a healthy dose of independence in YOUR chosen pursuits, of learning to honor your quiet and calm inner self, and of NOT wasting all your time chasing trends and keeping up with the Jones'.
Nuff said. zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
