Want to biologically slow the effects of aging, without getting a facelift or plastic surgery?
EAT RIGHT~!
Studies show that an increased intake of antioxidants can keep your biological age young, even while your chronological age gets older. It also decreases your chances of having chronic disease as you age as well. Sounds good, right?
But first, what exactly is an antioxidant?
Antioxidants are chemicals inside the body that help fight cellular inflammation. Cellular inflammation causes the cells to weaken and malfunction. And if cellular inflammation doesn’t sound too bad, consider the effects.
Cellular inflammation causes arteriosclerosis, (where your arteries harden) and your skin to wrinkle and sag. (Gross!)
What to eat?
• Berries • Green Tea • Mushrooms • Spinach • Whole grains • Almonds • Cacao • Coffee
In short, stay away from processed foods, and eat more whole foods. Experts also warn to be careful about overeating, do NOT eat to the point of feeling uncomfortable. Remember, it’s your face on the line!
