How many of the things we heard, as a kid, were true?
I remember when I was a little girl, my mom told me to never exercise or engage in any vigorous activity after I ate because it would cause appendix inflammation that would ultimately lead to the removal of my appendix. I remember asking her, why didn’t I have it removed as a baby? She couldn’t provide me with any answer but it sat in my mind for years that I should never ever exercise right after I ate.
Now that I’m older, I exercise whenever I like, before or after I eat, and I’m still alive and none of my organ has been removed. It made me wonder how many of the things that I always thought I knew were actually incorrect. How many of the things that I thought I knew best were actually a result of ignorance? How much longer do I have to live in this ignorance that I’ve been blinded by for years? It is all shadows in the real world, according to Plato. Just what exactly do I have ! to do to actually turn around from the wall of the cave and see the “real world” if just realizing it is not enough?
There is no way to prevent appendix inflammation, according to medicinenet.com. However, appendix inflammation is less common in people who eat foods high in fiber, such as fresh fruits and vegetables.
