*“Love each other, or perish” W.H. Auden*
Love stirs. Love is passionate. How can love be zen?
Zen is moderation and contemplation, about “nothingness”, about absence of emotions and desires. Can love be zen?
On the surface, love seems to be about as opposite to zen as can be…
The state of zen comes from self awareness, and love that is wise and generous and positive must also come from self awareness, and the ability to be at peace with one’s self. Only then can a person hope to find a complementary person to share his/her life and love.
Love embraces and accepts, it is all that is positive. Acheiving self awareness is a first step towards finding love that lasts, in all of love’s manifestations.
