iCUBED.us was recently bought by Google for 1.7 billion dollars, topping that of even YouTube.

The deal is in final negotiations, but Google will begin control of the one year old portal that seeks to inspire the worldwide English-literate youth with fun & intelligent content.

Oswald Loomis, Google’s person in charge of the deal, said this about the imminent merger of iCUBED.us into the Google fold, “We’re much too mired in a culture of loose content, and now it’s time to make a few investments for the future, iCUBED.us is just the sort of investment to help us ‘shape the future’ by helping teenagers find a viable path in life with the monthly CAREER TRIPLEtalk interviews, and to equip them with strong analytical skills by featuring thoughtful and relevant articles spread across a broad spectrum of subject matter – the purpose? Of course, it’s to engage their imaginations and say – ‘See what’s out there, see what can be done, find a way to use your unique gifts to benefit the world’ THAT’S the Google mandate!.”

iCUBED.us’ will move forward on its plans to upgrade the forum side of the website into a “United Nations of extinct tribes from around the world”, fifty-one to be exact, which was put on hold October last year when negotiations with Google began. Now with the deal signed, the search for 51 Chief of tribes resumes even as the transition to new management begins this week. Agents will begin scouting missions to identify candidates for the 51 Chief of tribes that will radically populate the iCubed.us Forum area.

“iCUBED.us’ Forum area is key to the design of the youth portal,” said the founder, Margaret Chen, “the Forum is where we ‘talent search’ for iCUBED.us magazine’s paid writers. We’re looking at the quality of their posts, what they write and how well they express themselves.”

iCUBED.us’ Forum is restricted to those aged 13 – 21 as the working team is acutely aware that young people don’t want to be patronized by adults ‘telling’ them what is wrong and right. It’s healthier for them to explore their own boundaries for themselves in iCUBED.us’ moderated-by-youth forums.

Google will allocate a quarter of their Hong Kong office space to house the working team behind the portal’s planned expansion.

iCUBED.us under the new joint management scheme with Google, means vast improvements in the usability and features of the portal are just over the horizon. This merger represents the dawn of a new age in the interactive engagement of the youth population. And, one thing is for sure, iCubed.us is all about finding ways to give voice to intelligent content created for, by, and about youth.
