iCubed.us took a leap of faith in launching our first annual “EASTER EGG HUNT FOR MOTHER’s DAY PRIZE” and we’re delighted that so many students decided to participate especially when the main prize was flowers for mom on Mother’s Day. (It’s nice to know that teens are not just all about themselves, and actually care enough about mom and her many big and small sacrifices for the sake of family, to endure our challenging egg hunt…)

Our only wish is that we could have given each contestant a prize for trying! But then THAT wouldn’t be a contest then would it?

So we hope you’ll try again next year, isn’t winning really about caring enough to try your best ? NO REGRETS!

THE PRIZES FOR 2007 iCubed.us’ MOTHER’s DAY EGG HUNT:
1. Gi-normous floral arrangement delivered on Mother’s Day
2. A Nokia6030 mobile phone
3. A gift certificate for US$33

.
And now, for an excerpt from the winning entry below:

” Personally, I think that the three biggest problems confronting humanity are poverty, global warming, and war. I do not believe in a super solution, some sort of wish that could whisk the problems away like so much fairy dust. Instead, I would use only one of the three wishes (perhaps saving the other two for my own personal interests). I think that it is necessary to foster a global understanding of the problems we face as a family, to be able to cooperate with our brothers and sisters, and understand that this is our planet and we must act as stewards of it. It is one thing to solve world poverty by throwing money around; it is another to create an open dialogue amongst the world where the problem can be addressed as a single, unified group. I think that these three problems are much too big for one country or organization, or even a few of each to tackle alone. Poverty will not be stopped in an instant. Global warming will take time to slow down. Differences will always want to provoke war. Though it may be idealistic, I believe that if we as humans fought for the world as our planet as opposed to many little varied kingdoms, we could make big things happen. ”
