The Good Old Days when Chewing Gum was a "problem"...

Found an interesting blog column comparing the top issues teenagers faced 50 years ago, compared to the "problems" you guys deal with today.

Just 50 years ago the top teen problems were:
1.) talking
2.) chewing gum
3.) making noise
4.) running in the halls
5.) getting out of turn in line
6.) wearing improper clothing; and
7.) not putting paper in the trash can

Can you guess what the top problems of your generation are?
According to a poll of high school seniors today...

1.) Drug abuse -- half of those polled have tried drugs
2.) Alcohol consumption -- 90 percent polled admitted use
3.) Teen pregnancy -- every half a minute a teen gets pregnant in the U.S. of A.

4.) Teen suicide -- every minute and a half one succeeds
5.) Rape -- reported cases have increased 700 percent in last 50 years

WOW! I don't think I exaggerate when I say, "that's a completely different picture of youth in America..."

"And, WHAT THE!"

Chewing gum?! what a quaint old fashioned notion...

The positive side of this is that teenagers today also KNOW much more about the world than did their predecessors...
