About
Background
iCUBED.us, was founded on the premise that young people (aged to 25) in Hong Kong and Worldwide have limited access to dedicated and age-specific local websites for: information on community resources; discussion of subjects that impact their lives: and a forum to facilitate an open dialogue and a useful exchange of opinions and viewpoints.
In Hong Kong, our content compliments Hong Kong Government New Academic Structure Education including "Moral and Civic Education", "Aesthetic Activities", "Community Services" and "Interactive Learning in English Language". We look for opportunities to work with like-minded partners with the aim of improving society through broadening the horizons of its youth.
Given the age of the target group, and the sensitive nature of some of the website content, it makes sense to strike an ad-hoc committee of professionals [and representatives of the target group] to act as advisors on matters arising. We anticipate that there might be general public complaints, queries about website content, the appropriateness of certain sponsors, and other issues from the community. Should any issues arise that might hamper our relations with the community we endeavor to seek a speedy resolution under advisement from our board members.
We are a youth website with 3 distinct components to our structure: online magazine, blogs, and a forum.
1. Online magazine – Our webazine provides thought-provoking and fresh perspectives on a range of topics to encourage out-of-the-box thinking in our youth audience. Our editorial is guided by 3 basic principles that define iCUBED.us: “iNtegrity.iN.iNtelligence”. In short, it’s smart and fun. See our mission statement below.
2. Blogs – The Blogs section offers the opportunity for invited teens, newsmakers, and other individuals to create a space that enables them to share their insight, opinion, special interests, and stories with others while soliciting feedback from our online members.
3. Forum – The Forum is a bulletin board that gives our members a voice on topics ranging from music and movies to health and relationships. The topics are divided into 3 categories: Mind, Body, and Spirit. Here in the Forum, teens can interact with one another by seeking and giving informal advice and opinions, sharing their experiences, or just simply having a conversation.
Our Audience
Our audience is comprised English language members aged to 25, both male and female, who live in Africa, Austral-Asia, North America, and Europe. We offer marketers access to the most dynamic and technologically savvy group of Internet users. According to the New York Times, not only do 97% of teenagers use the Internet, but they spend more time online than they do watching TV.
