3 February 2012
Breathtakingly beautiful scenery... Death defying bravery. It's all about the feeling...
"A free person is someone who is true to himself, who follows his dreams and turns them into reality. You have to put fear to one side - fear will always be there, but you have to follow your path. It's all possible if you put enough energy into it."
MOVIE FRIDAYS: Documentary film about planet earth, "HOME"
posted by Mags, 20 May 2011
"We are living in exceptional times. Scientists tell us that we have 10 years to change the way we live, avert the depletion of natural resources and the catastrophic evolution of the Earth's climate.
The stakes are high for us and our children. Everyone should take part in the effort, and HOME has been conceived to take a message of mobilization out to every human being.
For this purpose, HOME needs to be free. A patron, the PPR Group, made this possible. EuropaCorp, the distributor, also pledged not to make any profit because Home is a non-profit film.
MOVIE FRIDAYS: Is JUNO the answer to Teen Pregnancy? ... STOP ABORTIONS the RIGHT WAY!
by !Baha, 15 April 2011
GOOD INTENTIONS
A film about a teen pregnancy NOT ending with an abortion is a movie with a good intention. JUNO shows how UNWED MOTHERS have OTHER OPTIONS besides abortion.
Juno is a smart, quirky 16 year old student from a "broken" but loving family, who gets pregnant from having sex with her best guy friend, a very decent, nerdy guy who's the type that always does the right thing. He also happens to like her very much.

Scarlettrose-17 reviews THE HONG KONG INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL 2011
by Scarlettrose- 17, 3 December 2010
Only film has the power to sway people’s emotions, manifest ideas with moving images and action, conjuring images that remain in thoughts and memories--making the film going experience not just an ephemeral emotion that vanishes into thin air once the lights come on.
JayHo-22 reviews 1997 film GATTACA, and How Our Work and Efforts Matter
by JayHo-22, 13 September 2010
"The most unremarkable of events. Jerome Morrow, navigator first class, is about to embark on a one year manned-mission to Titan, the fourteenth moon of Saturn. A highly prestigious assignment. Although for Jerome, selection was virtually guaranteed at birth. He's blessed with all the gifts required for such an undertaking. A genetic quotient second to none. No, there is truly nothing remarkable about the progress of Jerome Morrow. Except that I am not Jerome Morrow."

In this third of the movie series, Spiderman returns to protect the city and continue his crime fighting. His sudden popularity results in a combination of showmanship and extreme cockiness. He is drunk on a high from his newfound widespread appeal.
Spiderman II : caring for self first in order to care for others
by Peace, 20 August 2010
“I believe there's a hero in all of us, that keeps us honest, gives us strength, makes us noble, and finally allows us to die with pride, even though sometimes we have to be steady, and give up the thing we want the most. Even our dreams.” Aunt May in Spiderman II.
On the Spiderman Trilogy: Inspiring Youth to do the Right Thing - Part I
by Peace, 10 August 2010
Dear Readers
This is a three part series where I like to introduce what I feel is the main idea for each of the Spiderman movies. As superheroes' go, Spiderman has a special place because we see him struggling with his human frailties such as a need for revenge, lack of confidence and facing up to his personal demons.

Film Preview – “Invictus”: The Story of Nelson Mandela and the 1995 Rugby World Cup
By Nomadic Chris, 31 December 2009
Tag-line “His people needed a leader. He gave them a champion”
"François, thank you for what you have done for our country." – Nelson Mandela as he handed over the 1995 Rugby World Cup to SA captain Francois Pienaar
"No, Mr. President. Thank you for what you have done." – Pienaar
After the fall of apartheid, how did Nelson Mandela seek to build bridges between all his people? How significant was South Africa's 1995 Rugby World Cup win?
D9 is a thoroughly entertaining film straight from the get go! The fast paced plot, peels back to reveal the dark side of human nature; our fear of the unknown, our distrust of outsiders, our reluctance to understand differences, even our need to exploit others for our own advantage. In the end, you end up rooting for the aliens! The film is an effective social commentary for some of the modern ills of the world.
Sweet Sixteen? Directors John Hughes and Yasmin Ahmad – A Tribute
by Nomadic Chris, 13 August 2009
“I listen to kids. I respect them” – John Hughes, Film Director
Director / writer John Hughes, a name forever connected with teenage angst, dates gone awry, rights of passage, close friendships, sadly passed away recently.
For a whole generation of young adults who grew up in the eighties and nineties, this is great loss. Not only did John Hughes make entertaining films with interesting characters, he had a deep sense of empathy for teens; their everyday lives and dilemmas.
Film Review – "Transformers 2 – REVENGE OF THE FALLEN"
By Silent Sky, 18 July 2009
"Here, a childhood dream comes true...
A dream of fighting for justice and peace...
A dream of saving humanity..."
The mega blockbuster "Transformers 2 – Revenge of the Fallen" directed by Michael Bay picks up shortly after where the original ended. Due to great responsibilities and heroics suddenly heaped on him in the first installment, Sam (Shia LaBeouf) has grown into a brave fighter, a real hero and not the naïve teen seen in the first film.

"The Outsider" - starring Tony ... a video by Lee Ka-Wai (19)
by Lola, 28 May 2009
Lee Ka-Wai (Karthie) was one of iCUBED.us' First Annual ONE-MINUTE "SILENT" Film Contest -Grand Prize- winners. Karthie is self taught and we found that she had made other videos previous to entering a one-minute film for our contest, this one is about a disabled boy named Tony.
The themes of Love and of Kindness seems to recurr in Karthie's short films.
